We are sad to say that Sarah Davis, who was due to start an internship with us in September, has withdrawn her application to pursue a career in environmental science. We wish Sarah all the best for the future and pray God will bless her in this exciting new chapter of her life.
Also, we are delighted to say that the brilliant Jack Bishop will be volunteering part-time with the youth team for the coming academic year. Jack has been involved in the youthwork at St Mike's for a few years already, and will now be involved in more areas of our work with young people including schools work and youth clubs, as well shaping our ministry at a leadership level. He will fit the hours in around his existing part time job.
We still have 2 full-time youth intern vacancies available. Please do pray and share our advert which can be found at the new wine website.
We are delighted to be partnering with the North Bristol Foodbank to give young people the opportunity to make a difference. Some Tuesday mornings, 6 young people can go with Joel to the warehouse and sort food items to be distributed around Foodbank centres across the North of the City. They will be split into 2 groups, helping on different shifts at the Safestore warehouse on Gloucester Road North.
9.30 - Meet on the Green and get taken to the warehouse
9.45 - Help organise the food items
10.45 - Finish volunteering and get driven back to the Green
11.00 - Get picked up at the Green and taken to the warehouse
11.15 - Help organise the food items
12.15 - Finish volunteering and get driven back to the Green
Please note that the role can often include heavy lifting and the young people will be given health & safety advice before working.
This will happen on 28th July, 4th Aug and 18th Aug. As places are limited, they will be given on a first come first served basis. Please contact Joel on 07841 901163 to "book" a place.
If you have any questions, please do get in contact.
Are you interested in finding out more about mentoring available at St Michael's? Here are some key events coming up...
If you would like a mentor, please speak to Joel, Yesi or Sam. If you're a parent or potential mentor, please also speak to a member of the youth team if you have any questions.
Can you not often make it to the weekly events we do? (Unite, RS2, WORD etc). Joel recently put this message on Facebook. Come along!
I'd like to invite you all to the OSR on Sunday between 8-9pm (After the evening service.) We know that it's been hard for you to come to either Unite and / or Sunday mornings and we wanted to take some time to listen to how we can support you guys better.
We have at least one Sunday evening free every month and thought if you guys were free and up for it, we could do something on those nights to keep in touch. "What will we do" you ask? Well that's what you can decide if you come this Sunday night! You're very welcome to invite any others, but we want to make sure we hear from those who can't make it to the groups we do, rather than just those who come every week! (We're also inviting a few others who aren't on Facebook! Connie J, Alice R etc)
Please let me know if you plan on coming. We'll also play some games, and if you can bring some snacks too that would be great. If you've any questions let me know!
Cheers guys, hope you're having a great Friday!
Spring term is here and we've got a lot of exciting things going on! Download your copy of our term card here.
