Mettle Groups: ‘Any Questions?’

PLEASE NOTE THE CHANGE OF VENUE ... WE ARE NOW IN T3 (WHERE THE PRE-SCHOOL USED TO BE! SORRY FOR THE CONFUSION!

All three Mettle Groups will be meeting together this Wednesday for an Ask The Panel night. This is your chance to ask ANYTHING that's been on your mind about life, God, or whatever. The panel will be made up of Ant Miles, Alex Clare and Karen Jones, with Trevor Rawlinson as our host and questionmaster. Please make every effort to attend and take the chance to ask your questions. If you want to ask a question anonymously, please email it to admin@stmikesyouth.org, or write it down and put it in the questions box on the night. We promise we won't say where they came from!

There's also some big news about the future of Mettle, which we'll be announcing on Wednesday, so be there!

Mettle Group 102 Weekend Away: ‘Elijah’

Mettle is St Michael's youth group for young people in School Years 10-13.

The dictionary defines ‘Mettle’ as ‘Courage, spirit, character - the quality of a person's disposition or temperament’. When we talk about being ‘on one's mettle’, we are encouraging each other to ‘do our very best’ in all things.

Mettle is not a ‘quick fix’ course on Christianity. It's more of an ongoing programme, designed to build Courage, Spirit and Character - essential Christ-like qualities that will help you make informed choices throughout this rapidly changing and challenging time of your life.

How it Works

We meet in three small Mettle Groups which are held in leaders' homes on either a Monday or a Wednesday evening, between 7.30pm-9.30pm. At these groups we chat, have fun, and look at what it means to be a Christian in today's world. These groups meet every week in term-time (apart from the week after a Youth Service).

We also meet altogether for Mettle Sunday, after the Sunday evening service at St Michael's. This is usually a fairly chilled-out time, and provides an opportunity to respond to God in worship and prayer. This runs between 8.00pm-9.00pm. Once a month, we go to The Mix at Woodlands Church in Bristol, and once a term we do our own Youth Service at St Michael's.

The final ingredient of Mettle is our Socials. These are held at the start and end of each term on a Friday evening, along with the RE:fresh crowd, and we have already been ice-skating, to a fireworks display, to LaserQuest and of course, enjoyed the annual Christmas banquet together, to name but a few. Anyone in the right age group can come to these socials, they're not just for people in the Mettle Groups.

If you're interested in joining Mettle or just finding out more, please email mettle@stmikesyouth.org.
